Australian Junior Championships Review

Solucio was engaged to undertake a review of the Australian Junior Championships (AJC) to determine the optimal event structure for elite talent development and operations.

The objective of this project was to understand and define the structure and scheduling of the AJC, identify the optimal event tendering, selection and management process, define the AJC role and fit within the Basketball Australia high performance pathway and explore ways to reduce financial burden on participants.

The methodology for this project involved:

• Detailed situational analysis and benchmarking of the AJC and development of potential event structures.
• Extensive stakeholder consultation process, including online survey with basketball community and in-depth interview with key stakeholders.
• Series of formal workshops with key staff.

The final outcome was a collective understanding of the structure and operation of the AJC and a detailed final report with key recommendations presented to key Basketball Australia staff.
