Bowls Australia
National Facilities Strategy
SWe were engaged to develop a facilities strategy that would clarify Bowls Australia’s data analysis and software requirements and transform their ability to visualise its facilities footprint in order to plan for the future.
The objective of this project was to develop a state-of-the-art evidence-based approach to determine and manage an optimal number of facilities and create a sustainable model for the sport and clubs.
The methodology for this project involved:
- Extensive data analysis including demographic analysis and forecasting, participation analysis, and the development of a facility audit framework.
- Facilitation of strategic workshops with BA staff and management and the development of a Retirement/Lifestyle Village Strategy Framework.
- Geospatial mapping of population projections at a regional level overlaid with facility needs.
- Development of a facility hierarchy to identify priority areas for the sport.
The final outcome was a robust strategy which provides a deep understanding of the opportunities that exist for current clubs including consolidation of facilities and club amalgamation, clubs gaining professional advice and catering to today’s participation needs.
