Active Ballarat Strategy

Solucio was engaged to lead the preparation of an Active Ballarat Strategy that positions Council to meet the diverse sport and recreation needs of the community.

The objective of the project was to establish strategic direction for the planning, provision, development and management of a diverse range of sport and recreation facilities, infrastructure and services, and provide recommendations and strategic outcomes that address short term (1-2 years), medium term (3-4 years) and future term (5-10 years) needs.

The methodology for this project involved:

• Detailed review of existing sport and active recreation policy and strategies.
• Extensive community engagement, including an online survey, in-depth interviews with key stakeholders and a Community Forum.
• Demographic analysis and population forecasting with geospatial mapping of facilities overlaid.

The final outcome was a thorough strategic level document that informs Council on future planning, provision, management and priorities for a diverse range of sustainable sport and recreation facilities and pursuits.
