Open Space and Community Infrastructure Gap Analysis

Solucio was engaged to undertake a comprehensive analysis of open space and community infrastructure across the municipality. The project aimed to identify current shortfalls and guide future investment, particularly in response to rapid population growth and development in the Sunshine Precinct.

The methodology for this project involved:

• Data analysis including demographic and population data, open space and recreation data, and relevant Council and industry datasets.
• GIS analysis of open space accessibility and walkable catchments.
• A stakeholder engagement process, involving 23 in-depth interviews and a background analysis report of key findings.
• Recommend options to address identified service gaps and support Brimbank’s strategic priorities for liveability, inclusion and sustainable growth.

The final outcome was a Passive Open Space Gap Analysis for Council and a Community Infrastructure and Open Space Gap Analysis for the NEIC, which will inform further opportunities to enhance the provision of community infrastructure and open space for the Brimbank community.
