Coastside Drive Recreation Reserve Master Plan

Solucio was engaged by The City of Greater Geelong to prepare a Master Plan for the new Coastside Drive Recreation Reserve in Armstrong Creek. The aim was to establish a clear direction for the future development of the 14-hectare greenfield site, positioned within a growing residential area.

The plan responds to strong projected population growth and the demand for flexible, high-use outdoor spaces. Our role was to lead the strategic planning and spatial design, integrating Council’s objectives with practical recreation outcomes.

The methodology for this project has involved:

• A review of site opportunities and constraints.
• Demand and provision analysis for local and district-level sport and recreation facilities.
• Design of a concept Master Plan with integrated landscaping, transport and utility servicing.
• Community consultation on the draft Master Plan that involved over 250 interactions, including an online survey, play space tool and pop-up consultation.
• Detailed planning for community play space, sports fields, shared path connections and passive recreation areas.

The final plan provides a forward-looking vision for the precinct, enabling The City to meet future sport and recreation needs.
