Martin Hirons is Managing Director of Solucio and a highly respected strategist, researcher, and business leader with over 35 years of experience across the sport, leisure, and community sectors. From his first role selling basketball sponsorships to guiding national strategies for leading organisations, Martin has built a reputation for seeing the big picture and turning it into action.

Before joining Solucio (then Sport Business Partners) in 2008, Martin held senior roles with Sweeney Research, where he became a Director and launched the renowned Sweeney Sports brand. His diverse career also includes leadership roles in Canada, teaching roles at universities in Australia and North America, and on the frontlines of sport, directing a professional golf tournament on the Canadian Tour.

Marty’s expertise spans strategy development, research and insights, business growth, and innovation. Whether helping clients define their vision, developing new market opportunities, or providing high-level strategic advice, he is known for bringing clarity to complex challenges and energy to new opportunities. Clients value his commercial mindset, deep sector knowledge, and ability to connect ideas with impact.

He’s also deeply involved in the community, having held board and leadership roles with organisations including Red Dust Role Models, Amputee Golf Victoria, and the State Baseball and Softball Centre.

Outside of work, Marty is an avid golfer who can often be found on the course when he’s not working with clients or leading the team. He enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle, keeping fit with regular workouts and spending time outdoors tending to his garden.

A lifelong St Kilda supporter, Marty continues the noble tradition of Saints fans everywhere, patiently waiting for that elusive next premiership – a testament to his loyalty and unwavering optimism. He’s also an embedded supporter of LIV Golf’s Ripper GC and follows the team’s progress with the same passion he brings to his own game.
