Goldfields Recreation Reserve Master Plan

Solucio was engaged to develop a Master Plan for Pyrenees Shire Council’s Goldfields Recreation Reserve. The Reserve accommodates AFL, Cricket, Netball, Tennis, an Agricultural Society, as well as a range of aqua-sports and activities on the adjacent Beaufort Lake.

The objective was to measure the Reserve’s offering including the facilities and surrounds to develop concept plans, cost estimates, an optimal governance framework and a needs assessment. This has also involved a detailed condition assessment of the Reserve’s near-end-of-life hardcourts and tennis pavilion.

The methodology for this project involved:

• Site visits and assessments with user groups and Council staff.
• Robust analysis of Council and industry documents.
• Thorough stakeholder engagement process including in-person and online stakeholder interviews, and an online community survey.
• Robust background research process and Situation Analysis.
• Review and recommend a governance framework for the Reserve.

The final outcome of the project was a Master Plan with high-level concept plans, a costed 10-year Action Plan and a newly developed governance framework.
