Golf Facilities Plan

Solucio was engaged by Sutherland Shire Council (SSC) to prepare a Golf Facilities Plan to guide the long-term planning, investment and management of its three publicly owned golf courses: Woolooware, Kareela and The Ridge. The project focused on improving community access, ensuring long-term sustainability, and better integrating these assets with Council’s broader open space network.

The methodology for this project has involved:

• Site inspections and condition assessments of Council-owned facilities.
• Detailed consultation with local clubs, operators, residents, and Golf NSW.
• Benchmarking of current and emerging trends in golf participation and facility formats.
• Analysis of alternative uses and commercial opportunities to increase utilisation.

The final outcome of the project was a guide that provides a clear set of actions and planning tools tailored to Sutherland Shire Council, including a facility-specific implementation plan, investment priorities for infrastructure and amenity upgrades, and recommendations on format diversification, pricing, access and future lease arrangements.
