Leisure Centre Strategy

Solucio was engaged by Sutherland Shire Council (SSC) to develop a Leisure Centre Strategy that reflects the needs and expectations of the growing sporting community, and sets a framework for the creation of an active, safe, healthy, vibrant and liveable place.

The methodology for this project involved:

• Indoor and outdoor facility audit and due diligence, including a comprehensive review of facility cashflows.
• Interviews with a broad range of user groups and stakeholders.
• Four presentations to the Sport and Active Communities Sub-Committee, and a consultation session with the Councillor working group.
• A community survey with a total of 280 complete responses, and a public exhibition survey of the draft Plan with a total of 1,286 complete responses.
• Documentation of the requirements for each facility design, layout and amenity.
• Preparation of indicative concept plans and provision of functional descriptions for required spaces including the size, area, and relationships within facilities.

This final Strategy contained recommendations covering each of Council’s five facilities including capital expenditure priorities and an aligned funding Strategy.
