Tim Murdoch

Senior Consultant

Tim brings a unique blend of analytical rigour, creative thinking, and a deep passion for sport to his role at Solucio. With a career that began in 2005 as a rowing coach, Tim has since worked across a diverse range of organisations including Netball Victoria, Rowing Victoria, Deakin University and Methodist Ladies College. His early roles gave him a strong grounding in sport development, education, and member engagement, experience that continues to shape his approach today. During his time at Netball Victoria he was awarded the SMAANZ Industry Engagement Award alongside Dr Katie Rowe for research into social sport participation.

Tim’s core expertise lies in using data to drive smarter, evidence-based decisions. He specialises in turning big, complex datasets into practical insights that change the way clients think. Whether he’s mapping the spatial relationship between sport participation and infrastructure or unpacking long-term participant retention trends, his work is grounded in evidence, innovation, and impact. Tim is also a skilled workshop facilitator and you will often see him leading workshops with clients and stakeholders.

What sets Tim apart is his curiosity. He looks beyond the sport sector to other industries and disciplines for innovative solutions, and takes pride in challenging assumptions to deliver fresh perspectives. His colleagues know him as the guy with a brain full of fun facts and curious tangents (and they wouldn’t have it any other way).

Whether it’s through data, research, or consultation, Tim finds the most satisfaction in moments where new insights reshape a client’s understanding of a problem and define the path forward.

Away from work, when he is not renovating his house, you’ll find Tim tending to his vegetable garden, tinkering with some tech gadget or walking his dog Wallace. He’s a lifelong West Coast Eagles member, although he has been unusually quiet about this recently. And if you ever hear bagpipes in the distance… there’s a good chance it could be Tim, who served five years as a bagpiper in the Australian Army Reserve – a fun fact that always sparks conversation.
